    FOUNDER’S DAY :
Bishop Daniel Delany the Founder of the Brother’s of St.Patrick was a person who led the congregation by example, serving the common man through helping the poor and the needy in every possible way. We remember Bishop Daniel Delany and the Patrician Brothers on that day and offer prayers. The money collected for Out Reach Program is distributed to the needy on that day.
Daniel Delany was born in Paddock, a small village in central Ireland, in 1747. His Father died when he was young and his mother Mrs. Elizabeth Delany brought him up. He had his elementary education in Mountrath under the guidance of his aunt. The public practice of the Catholic Faith in Ireland was outlawed by British Law during these times. Therefore, Daniel was smuggled out of Ireland to France in order to receive his priestly education. Daniel was ordained a priest in 1770. He then returned to Ireland in 1776. The condition of the Catholics had worsened in Ireland. Poverty and hunger had turned the country into a land of misery and lawlessness. Drunkeness, fighting, and the lack of religious observance in a Catholic country helped him to decide to return to France. Only the pleas of his mother kept him in his native Ireland. Father Delany as assistant priest in the parish of Tullow, realized that the cause of evil was the lack of education. He therefore started Sunday schools for the children of his parish. In these classes, Father Delany taught the children Catholic doctrine. Naturally he needed help to get his catechetical program properly established. He thus gathered around a bunch of educated adults to be catechists. In 1783, at the young age of thirty-six, he was consecrated Bishop of Kildare and Leighlin. Bishop Delany took steps to secure for his Sunday schools a reliable source of catechists: he founded two religious congregations. On February 1st, 1807, he received the first women to start the Sisters of Saint Brigid (Brigidines). A year later on February 2nd, he founded the Brothers of St. Patrick. For the remaining six years of his life, he spiritually guided the brothers and sisters. Bishop Delany died in 1814. and his final words were “ Love God and live together in peace and charity”.

    ST.PATRICK’S DAY :
Saint Patrick was a Romano-British and Christian missionary, who is the most generally recognized patron saint of Ireland
or the Apostle of Ireland. Little is known of Patrick's early life, though it is known that he was born in Roman Britain in the fourth century, into a wealthy family. His father was a deacon and his grandfather was a priest in the Christian church. At the age of sixteen, he was kidnapped by Irish raiders and taken captive to Ireland as a slave. It is believed he was held somewhere on the west coast of Ireland, possibly Mayo, but the exact location is unknown. According to his Confession, he was told by God in a dream to flee from captivity to the coast, where he would board a ship and return to Britain. Upon returning, he quickly joined the Church in Auxerre in Gaul and studied to be a priest In 432, he again said that he was called back to Ireland, though as a bishop, to Christianise the Irish from their native polytheism . Irish folklore tells that one of his teaching methods included using the to explain the Christian doctrine of the Trinity to the Irish people. After nearly thirty years of evangelism, he died on 17 March 461, and according to tradition, was buried at Downpatrick. Although there were other more successful missions to Ireland from Rome, Patrick endured as the principal champion of Irish Christianity and is held in esteem in theIrish church.
Saint Patrick's Day or the Feast of Saint Patrick is a cultural and religious holyday celebrated on 17 March, the anniversary of his death. Green ribbons and shamrocks are worn in celebration of St Patrick's Day.
Saint Patrick is the patron saint of our school. The feast of St. Patrick, is celebrated every year in the school. Special assembly, prayer service, and cultural programs are conducted on that day.
